ADEFUR
Solution for Injection
Veterinary Vitamin
COMPOSITION
It is a clear yellow colored sterile solution containing 300.000 IU Vitamin A (Palmitate), 100.000 IU Vitamin D3 and 50 mg Vitamin E (Acetate) per ml.
PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES
Adefur Solution for Injection is a balanced formulation containing A, D3 and E vitamins. After intramuscular injection, it shows a high level of bioavailability through prolonged absorption. It reaches the highest level in the blood in a short time. It is also stored in the liver to maintain its protective and therapeutic effect. The biological interaction of the vitamins in the product enhances the effectiveness of vitamin A in particular.
Vitamin A, is a vitamin necessary for the maintenance of normal structures of the skin and mucous membranes, continuity of local defense activities in mucous membranes, resistance in epithelial tissues, prevention of infectious agents from entering the body, normal development of prenatal and postnatal connective tissue, growth, feed utilization, vision, neural functions and reproductive functions. Vitamin A palmitate administered intramuscularly is absorbed slowly from the injection site, enters the bloodstream and is stored in the liver. It reaches the highest level in plasma in 4 hours. Plasma level decreases as it is stored in the liver. It is excreted in feces and urine.
Vitamin D3, regulates calcium and phosphorus metabolism in the body. In case of deficiency, skeletal disorders with rickets and osteomalacia occur. It is fully absorbed when administered parenterally. Firstly, passes into the lymph circulation bound to lipoproteins and then into the bloodstream. Plasma half-life is 19-25 hours. Vitamin D is mainly stored in the liver, lungs and kidneys. Small amounts are also found in the brain, intestines, thymus and blood. Vitamin D and most of its metabolites are excreted from the liver in bile.
Vitamin E, is a vitamin found in cell membranes. It has antioxidant activity and neutralizes free oxygen radicals. Vitamin E prevents the oxidized breakdown of vitamin A. It supports vitamin A, indirectly. Vitamin E deficiency causes hyaline degeneration of skeletal muscles in lambs, kids, calves and other mammalian offspring. Vitamin E is absorbed from the intestines after parenteral administration and enters the lymph circulation bound to lipoproteins. And then, it enters the bloodstream and is transported in all tissues and cells and stored. Vitamin E is present in all cells. It accumulates especially in body fat and adipose tissue. It is excreted in urine and feces.
USE OF AREA / INDICATIONS
It is used for the treatment of deficiencies of vitamins A, D3 and E and diseases related to deficiencies of these vitamins in cattle, sheep, goats and horses; it is used to provide the increased vitamin needs in the treatment of Rachitism due to vitamin D3 deficiency in young animals, bone diseases and osteomalacia in adults.

ADVERSE REACTIONS
A small reaction may occur at the injection site, which disappears spontaneously after a short time. High doses and prolonged administration of vitamin D3 can lead to the release of calcium and phosphorus from the bones, thus increasing the level of these ions in the bloodstream. This can lead to calcification of some soft tissues and organs. If vitamin A is used excessively, it can cause hypervitaminosis.
